Selebi-Phikwe Police Station commander, Superintendent Goitsemang Sekgabo said they received the report of the incident early Saturday at around 3am."We received the report of the matter from a man who had received a phone call from the suspect informing him that he had killed his girlfriend and was going to commit suicide. "Then, police rushed to the crime scene in Maga ward, Mmadinare. On arrival, they found the young woman lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds and a sharp cut to the throat with a knife still stuck in her neck," he said. Sekgabo added the young woman was taken to Mmadinare Primary Hospital where she was certified dead on arrival by the doctors. He said, thereafter, police followed the suspect's shoeprints until they found the young man hanging from a tree at Lephaneng Lands about one kilometre away from Mmadinare. "He had used a wire to hang himself. We have launched investigations into the matter because the suspect didn't leave any message behind explaining his actions," Sekgabo said.
