Sekoma: A land besieged by troubles

Amongst the problems inherent in the ward that is set for a by-election this coming Saturday, March 5, unemployment ranks high. The youth are stacked with their parents at home with nothing to do to improve their socio economic status. Failure rates at secondary schools, both junior and senior, compound the unemployment problem.
The only source of employment for secondary school leavers is the Ipelegeng programme. Because of lack of opportunities in Sekoma and surrounding villages, the youth end up finding solace in alcohol. This sad phenomenon is troubling village elders, among them Tebogo Mogale.
It underscores the indispensable role women play in our society, particularly in building strong households and nurturing families.
