The Botswana Movement for Democracy Youth League (BMDYL) president, Phenyo Segokgo says he is disturbed by the trend of members defecting to the ruling, Botswana Democratic Party (BDP).

“The trend in which some of my youth league members are defecting to BDP cannot be ignored by anyone. The painful part is that the party is losing the hard working members who had been playing a big role in the party. We cannot sit back and claim that all is well,” Segokgo told Mmegi yesterday.

He said this year alone, his youth league lost three members to the BDP without including the branch secretaries and chairman, who  amongst others also defected. The BMDYL president said the former national organising secretary, Karabo Gomotsegang who was welcomed into the BDP on Tuesday, was the backbone of the youth league.
