Ramogapi says Bonno Housing Programme offers a solution to the pressing issue of decent houses PIC: KENNEDY RAMOKONE

The Minister of Water and Human Settlement, Onneetse Ramogapi, says the newly launched Bonno Housing Programme offers a solution to the pressing issue of lack of access to affordable housing by communities across the country .

He explained that Bonno National Housing Programme is closely aligned with Botswana’s national development objectives, particularly those outlined in Vision 2036, the National Development Plan (NDP 11), and the upcoming NDP 12, as well as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 1 and 11). Ramogapi added that that strategic initiative was designed to address the nation’s housing shortage, promote social equity, and foster economic growth.

“By improving housing security, the programme aims to enhance the living standards of Batswana, reduce financial stress on low-income households (SDG 1: No Poverty), and support sustainable urbanisation with resilient housing solutions and access to basic services (SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities). Through these efforts, the Bonno National Housing Programme is poised to make a transformative impact on the lives of many citizens across Botswana,” he said when speaking at the launch of the programme in Gaborone this week.
