Police seek answers on trampled Chinese man

Selebi Phikwe police plan to approach the Chinese Embassy for answers on the identity and status of a man who was trampled to death by an elephant at Mashatu Game Reserve on Sunday.

Superintendent Ishmael Morebodi told Mmegi yesterday that it was still unclear whether the victim was a tourist or resident of Botswana.  Police suspect that the man was part of a group that went to the north-eastern safari area from Francistown.

“We will be working hand-in-hand with the Chinese Embassy to locate his next of kin, before we release the body after the post-mortem,” he said.
