Members of Botswana Police Service’s Special Support Group (SSG) stationed in Maruapula, Gaborone are reeling in shock following an incident in which their colleague died recently after shooting himself with a pellet gun.

The police officer in the rank of Sub-Inspector took his life with a pellet gun inside his car at the SSG residential parking lot on Wednesday morning. Details however remain sketchy regarding what could have influenced his action.

Central Police Station commander, Superintendent Mothusi Phadi said the case points to suicide following prior involvement in an accident.
