A 25-year-old man of Block 8 in Gaborone was recently mauled and killed by a pit bull in Ledumadumane, Mogoditshane.

Mogoditshane police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officer-in-charge, assistant superintendent Tumisang Mogorosi said the deceased who hails from Mahalapye met his fate after visiting Ledumadumane where he had accompanied his mechanic friend to fix the dog owner’s car. “The deceased was in the company of the mechanic who had come to fix the car.

The incident occurred after the dog’s owner had stepped out to purchase some parts that were needed by the mechanic,” he explained. Mogorosi said the matter was reported to the police and the pit bull was later put down by the police. He encouraged responsible pet ownership of all breeds stating that some dogs like pit bull require a greater level of responsibility. The young man was laid to rest on Sunday in his home village, Mahalapye.
