FRANCISTOWN: A 32-year-old man from Lesoma village, who is suspected of having a sexual act with pig, was freed from police custody yesterday.

The man will appear in court once the investigation on the matter is complete, Mmegi has learnt. The alleged bestiality incident is said to have occurred at Phase II farm on Tuesday at mid-day, but reported to the police a few hours later. According to Kazungula Police Station Commander, Superintendent Phetogo Phillimon, the suspect was released on Wednesday, pending the result of the Kasane Veterinary office's examination.

Phillimon stated that as a result of the bestiality allegations levelled against the suspect, he was taken into custody the same day the crime was allegedly committed, and a veterinary technician was engaged to examine the pig. Phillimon also said they expect the results to be released earliest tomorrow. The Kazungula police chief said it is alleged that a 45-year-old witness reported that he left the farm at around 10 in the morning for shopping and when he returned he found the suspect having a sexual intercourse with a female pig. Phillimon added that this was the first incident of this kind in their policing area.
