A 26-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Mochudi on Sunday early morning.

Following the incident, police are appealing to members of the public to help them identify the driver of the unknown vehicle that reportedly hit the deceased and drove off. The deceased was found lying in a pool of blood along Mochudi–Rasesa road at around 1:20am. In an interview with The Monitor, Mochudi police assistant station commander, Assistant Superintendent Norman Ntope said investigations are ongoing to locate the suspect who fled the accident scene. “We do not have concrete evidence of what transpired, but we suspect that the pedestrian might have been attempting to cross the road when he was hit by a speeding car whose driver failed to stop following the accident.

The deceased sustained injuries on his head and body and the head injuries were serious,” he said. Ntope added their investigative team is working around the clock to locate the driver and the car that hit the deceased. He requested for help from members of the public who might have witnessed the accident or have any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect.
