P30m spared for protected areas

The Ministry of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism has secured P30 million for water provision in protected areas including Chobe National Park, Parliament heard.

This came to light after the MP for Chobe constituency, Machana Shamukuni, asked the Minister of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism if he was aware of the serious water crisis at the Chobe National Park gates of Ghoha and Linyanti, with staff going for days without water.

In his response, Tshekedi Khama said the situation has been prevailing for the past three years and attempts had been made to address the situation.
