FRANCISTOWN: Divisional traffic South Central assistant commissioner, Reginald Matlhaba has revealed that they have charged 71 motorists who were driving without licences in one week.

He told The Monitor that they are alarmed by accidents in Gaborone which are caused mostly by overspeeding and dangerous driving.

Matlhaba stated that reckless driving puts a lot of lives of not only drivers and passengers but also pedestrians in danger. He shared that despite the fines, motorists continue to disobey traffic rules and regulations.

Matlhaba revealed that in a week they registered 38 cases of drunken driving in their policing area. Furthermore, he stated that they also recorded 56 cases of carrying passengers for reward without a permit. He was also concerned about the rising rate of people continuing to drive public transport without a public service vehicle (PSV) licence or permit.
