Norman Bakwena to deputise Kgosi Kgari Sechele III

Norman Bakwena has been appointed to deputise Kgosi Kgari Sechele III of the Bakwena. Bakwena confirmed in a telephone interview with Mmegi yesterday that he has indeed assumed the role of deputy paramount chief, which came into effect last year on December 1st.

"I have been acting since December, today the Kgosi held a formal meeting with the Bakwena royals to notify them of the appointment, the general public (morafe) has not been notified yet," he said, adding that he did not know when the announcement will be made.

Bakwena said the appointment means a lot of responsibility, which he is prepared to execute fully. He added that he has experience from his previous position as senior chief representative and the tribe should expect to be served well.
