Motion to abolish paramount chief status rejected

When presenting the motion, Kgosi Oreagetse Machilidza told the House that it is high time Dikgosi are treated equally and that there should be no paramount chiefs.
“Ntlo e, e na le kgethololo. Some tribes are favoured more than others. I don’t understand why certain Dikgosi could not be voted after every five years like us. The reason why some of our chiefs are working hard and even using their resources is because they are voted,” Machilidza said.
