Parents of a toddler have been arrested on a murder charge after their 1 year and eight months old baby girl mysteriously died in Paje.
Initially the couple was charged with child neglect, but police picked foul play following post mortem results, and charged the couple with murder.
Investigating the matter, No:2 Officer Commanding, Senior Superintendent, Paul Oketsang said they received a report from the baby girl's mother, a 19-year-old young woman of Monna ward, Paje who claimed she had left the child with his father, a 28-year-old at his place in Sesinyi ward, Paje, The young mother said when she returned she found the child motionless.
"The child was rushed to Paje Clinic and later referred to Sekgoma Memorial Hospital where she was certified dead by doctors on arrival. Post mortem was conducted, foul play was picked and we arrested the couple and charged them the murder of their toddler who was also sexually assaulted prior to her death," Oketsang said.
