Mokalake advises Batswana to build high-rise flats

FRANCISTOWN: The Minister of Lands and Housing Lebonaamang Mokalake has encouraged Batswana to build flats to save land. Speaking at The Lands and Housing Pitso held at Thapama Cresta Hotel on Monday, he said the way houses are currently developed does not reflect full utilisation of land.

He said the reluctance of Batswana to live in multi-residential apartments results in urban sprawl.

"Maybe it is time we revisit our land disposition policies, especially in our urban settlements," he said at the forum, which was themed Optimal Utilisation of Land - Key to Economic Diversification.
