Chedza Mogae, daughter of ex-president Festus Mogae will know her fate today when a Gaborone magistrate delivers judgement in the case where she faced charges of drunken driving and failure to provide breath specimen to the police.

The offences were committed in 2006. Chedza pleaded "not guilty" to the two counts before Gaborone's Extension Two Magistrate, Nokothula Moyo. It is alleged that on June 16, 2006 at around 10pm, the police on patrol along the Nelson Mandela Drive came across an Isuzu bakkie parked on the pavement facing the Independence Avenue junction. When the police approached, the driver of the vehicle drove-off in a zig-zag manner. The police followed as the vehicle swerved from lane to lane before stopping in the middle of the road.

On approaching the vehicle the police saw a woman coming out and going around it.
Police said the smell of alcohol made them suspect that the woman was in possession of it (alcohol).
