FRANCISTOWN: A 28-year-old man from Nata appeared in court today (Tuesday) charged with grievous bodily harm.

Oabetswe Itemogeng allegedly used a hammer to assault his girlfriend on the head resulting in her sustaining injuries. According to the charge sheet, Itemogeng allegedly struck Sedirile Taola on the head with a hammer on January 23, 2025, in Nata. Plea in the matter was reserved. Prosecutor Oteng Oneilwe made an application for the accused to be remanded in custody pending investigations. “The complainant is still nursing her injuries. She was just released from the hospital two days back.

The accused also has a pending case in which he allegedly stabbed the same complainant with a knife. He allegedly committed that offence last year in October. The complainant is his girlfriend,” Oneilwe said. Asked if he had anything to say, the accused pleaded with the court to grant him bail but his efforts did not bear the desired fruits. In the end, Principal Magistrate Tshepo Magetse denied the accused bail.
