Man, 23, drowns at family fun day in Palapye

A 23-year-old man tragically drowned on Saturday afternoon whilst attending a family fun day at the Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) recreational club in Palapye. The deceased was participating in swimming activities when the incident occurred around 3pm, police said.

“Other guests who were present at the event attempted to rescue him, but unfortunately, it was already too late,” Palapye Central Police Station commander, Superintendent Tiro Kgang, said.

He added that upon arrival at the scene, his officers rushed the victim to Palapye Primary Hospital for medical attention, but doctors certified him dead on arrival.
