Makgato-Malesu enters BDP Womens Wing fray

The Minister of Health, Dorcas Makgato-Malesu is seeking to be the chair of the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) Women’s Wing. She is likely to come up against Tshepo Wareus at the Women’s Wing congress to be held in Lobatse from April 10-11. The contest between the two will be stiff since Wareus is established in the party structures and has worked closely with some constituencies.

Wareus has been in politics long before Makgato-Malesu, something that makes her stand a good chance. She once served in the BDP Women’s Wing committee for four years.

Although she did not do well in the party primaries, she was fortunate enough to be nominated as a councillor. Wareus said that her aim is to revive the women’s structures in all party regions since some have collapsed.
