Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) is investigating an alleged forgery following a letter circulating in the Mahalapye West constituency stating that the re-election has been withdrawn.

The fact, according to the authentic letter released by the BDP executive secretary Sechele Sechele yesterday, is that the central committee never reversed its decision, and that the constituency is going for another run tomorrow.

On Wednesday, Mmegi ran a story stating that Mahalapye West MP Bernard Bolele had been saved from a new contest. The story was based on a letter allegedly signed by Sechele.  The alleged fraudulent letter dated February 24 stated that an earlier letter of February 3, from the central committee, signed by Sechele had been withdrawn.
