Kgosi Malema was elected through votes, claim Babirwa

BOBONONG: Kgosi Mmirwa Malema's position in the Bobirwa chieftaincy hangs by the thread as his rivals bring up historical facts that fail to link him to the throne, the last two meetings have revealed.

It became clear that Malema was elected as kgosi rather than ascended through automatic succession as is the norm in this country as far as traditional leadership is concerned. Babirwa did not mince words as they battled to establish the proper hierarchy of the Makhura descendants that could lead to the rightful heir to the throne. When the claimants were given the podium to explain why they believe they are the rightful heirs Malema said that Adam Masilo was senior to him and many people capitalized on that admission by making submissions against him.

It also became clear that Malema only objects to Masilo's ascendance to the throne on the basis that he is not a biological child to his father but rather was fostered into the family. Malema was certainly not the people's favourite as fingers pointed to Masilo as the rightful heir with Onketetse Serumola being dismissed as a joke in the race. Very little of Serumola's arguments were taken note of.
