Kgatleng leaders support FOI

MOCHUDI: Most civic leaders in Kgatleng have expressed support for the Freedom of Information Bill that was rejected by the just ended Parliament.

The Director of media advocacy organisation, MISA Botswana, Phenyo Butale, presented the bill to Kgatleng District Council here last week to indicate that the battle for freedom is not done and over with.

The Bill, which was tabled by Gaborone Central legislator Dumelang Saleshando, was assaulted by MPs of the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) en masse for fear that it could dismantle the government if it was passed into law.
