The disgruntled mayor for Jwaneng Town Council, Amos Jahana has joined the Botswana Democratic Party.

Jahana reportedly resigned from the Botswana National Front (BNF) late last year after losing the primary elections for Ngwaketsi West constituency.  Jahana contested and lost the constituency against Nthaile Nthaile. Nthaile was voted in by 1,763 against Jahana’s 1,391 during the primaries. After his loss, Jahana complained about irregularities in the voters’ roll. He claimed that some of his supporters’ names were missing in the voters’ roll.

He also complained that Nthaile never followed the party primary rules and regulations as he submitted his name for nomination after the deadline. Jahana said his complaint to the BNF central committee was never resolved.
