Johane Family Gets New House

Barely two months ago the Johane family in Moshupa could not have imagined another home other than the makeshift hovel made of corrugated iron and mud bricks that they called home, a case of abject poverty indeed.

Though they have not yet moved into their new house, a modern two-bed roomed brick house, this gift for the 18-member family could not have come at a better time.

Life has changed for them tremendously, and it is hard to imagine that this is the same family that painted a gloomy picture when The Monitor team visited them recent chilly winter morning when young children were in shorts despite the biting cold. Sixty-five year old Babotseng Molifi, the mother to Judith Johane whom The Monitor team spoke to about their living condition two months back, could not hide her happiness. The religious woman, who is a member of the Old Apostolic Church, was literally speechless, as she could not believe this turn-around in circumstances that has come her way. "I fall short of words to thank Charles Kgosinaga for this great gift he has given my family. I thank Satar Dada Foundation a million times," she said in between sobs.
