Jacobs vs Masisi: Attorney General admitted as 'amicus curiae'

A case in which the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) member Kamal Jacobs is challenging the legitimacy of Mokgweetsi Masisi as the president of the ruling party continues this morning before Justice Michael Mothobi.

It was postponed to 09:30 hours yesterday after Mothobi ordered that the Attorney General's application to be admitted as an 'amicus curiae' or “friend of the court” succeeded with costs against Jacobs.

The Judge said his ruling of the Attorney General's application will be incorporated into the main judgment. Yesterday's arguments were characterised by incoherent submissions by both the state council Otlaadisa Kwape and Jacobs' attorney Kagisano Tamucha.
