Member of Parliament (MP) for Lobatse, Kamal Jacobs, has accused President Duma Boko and his aide of threats on his life.

He shared his experiences with fellow legislators in Parliament this morning. “I am very worried as I stand here today in front of you. Yesterday there was a question that I put through to Parliament. Like you have been asking us Mr. Speaker if we slept well, unfortunately, I have been sleeping on the edge of my bed,” Jacobs said. “I have been sent so many threatening messages by the Head of State and by his bodyguard. “So what is to be done about that? Is my life in jeopardy? Should I go into exile now my speaker,” he quizzed.

To which the Speaker of Parliament, Dithapelo Keorapetse, responded, “If it happened like you allege, you must know that you are protected under the law, the powers and privileges of Parliament.” Jacobs the interjected: “I want to put this on record that my life is in your hands.” The MP had previously posed a question to the Minister of State of President, Moeti Mohwasa, over the appointment of Chief of Staff. However, the Speaker advised Jacobs that he should have discussed with him in Chambers, but assured him that he has immunity whilst on the floor of Parliament. Efforts to reach the Office of the President are ongoing. President Boko is currently on an official trip in the United States of America.
