Police in Lobatse are investigating a serious hit-and-run accident that has left a 40-year-old man hospitalised and fighting for his life.
According to Divisional Traffic Officer Southern, Assistant Commissioner Boiki Mojalemotho, the incident occurred on Saturday at around 8 pm along Mmamasiloamoka Road in Woodhall, Lobatse.
He said the driver who hit the pedestrian failed to stop after the accident and fled the scene.
“The victim sustained a fractured right leg and complained of severe pain in his ribs. He has since been referred to Princess Marina Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment,” Mojalemotho said.
Police have appealed to members of the public who may have witnessed the incident to come forward with any information that could assist in locating and arresting the suspect.
Mojalemotho further noted that pedestrian accidents remain a growing concern, urging motorists to exercise caution and remain vigilant, especially in residential areas. He also advised pedestrians to stay alert when walking along roadsides or crossing the street, emphasising that road safety is a shared responsibility.
