Batswana have a choice come the general elections on October 24: give the BDP another mandate or vote for the squabbling opposition to make their lives miserable, president Ian Khama said Friday at his party’s fundraising dinner.

Should Batswana vote for the opposition, then they should know they would have stabbed themselves in the belly. “This opposition is not capable of leading us on our journey of continuing our economic recovery, and of taking us onto the next level of our development. We cannot risk putting our economic recovery in their hands,” he said. Khama said the theme of the fundraising dinner “ The Pre-Requisites of a successful Entrepreneur in an African Environment; What Can Botswana Learn or Benchmark from various Empowerment Models?” reflected the BDP’s determination to develop Batswana and the country’s economy. He said the theme was a challenge to democrats and the nation at large to come up with innovative ideas so as to create jobs for all.

 “It is through entrepreneurship that we as a country will create wealth and more jobs for Batswana. This theme should in each one of us the feeling that is through the greatness of individual citizens and local communities that better nations and unions are built,” he said
