Five seriously injured in Kumakwane accident

Five occupants of a 15-seater public transport combi hired to transport church members were injured in a car crash that involved a collision between their vehicle and a Toyota Corolla on Sunday morning in Kumakwane.

Southern Divisional traffic officer, Assistant Commissioner Boiki Mojalemotho said the accident occurred when church members were travelling from East to West. On the other hand, he added the Toyota Corolla, which was driven by a 36-year-old man, was heading East from West at around 5am. "Five church members sustained serious injuries and are currently hospitalised at Bokamoso Private Hospital. We have launched a probe into the incident to establish what caused the head-on collision," said Mojalemotho.

"Amongst them is a 69-year-old woman who sustained a fractured leg, a 27-year-old woman who sustained a fractured left leg and was complaining of waist pain, and another 27-year-old woman who sustained injuries on her forehead," he added. Moreover, he said a 27-year-old man sustained injuries on both legs whilst a 29-year-old woman sustained injuries on both legs and was also complaining of pains in her shoulders and left pelvic bones. "Festive season is upon us and fatal accidents are also on the rise, I'm pleading with drivers to be cautious, and pay attention when driving to avoid unnecessary deaths on our roads," said Mojalemotho.
