Elephant tusks suspects in court

MAUN: A Zambian national, Friday Malila, has been remanded pending consideration of his bail application after he was found in unlawful possession of 18 elephant tusks.

Along with Botswana citizens, Boiki Mokgatle, Keoletile Molake, Thiteth Dithinde and Onkeme Segosebe, Malila was allegedly caught near or around Makalamabedi between 18 to 24 September with 18 elephant tusks weighing 303.8 kilogrammes, valued at P375 975,80.

Dithinde and Molake allegedly sold 16 elephant tusks weighing 236.4 kilogrammes valued at P292,852.32 to Malila. Segosebe faces one count of selling two elephant tusks weighing 67.1 kilogrammes valued P83,123.45 to the Zambian.
