FRANCISTOWN: Letlhakane police have launched a search for a hit-and-run suspect who killed a 58-year-old woman. According to Letlhakane Police Station commander, Superintendent Michael Maphephu, the traffic accident occurred on Saturday night.

He stated that the elderly woman was hit by a car while crossing the road and the Letlhakane police boss stated that the motorist failed to stop after the accident. He said the matter was reported to a passer-by someone who witnessed the accident. According to Maphephu, they were able to identify the deceased, who was taken to Letlhakane Primary Hospital and certified dead upon arrived. He added that the police are making every effort to warn motorists about the risks associated with irresponsible driving. He made an appeal to motorists to always drive slowly and attentively in the village to prevent tragic collisions.
