A case involving a Directorate of Intelligence and Security (DIS) logistics director accused of raping his biological daughter failed to proceed during a scheduled status update after his attorney stood him up for unpaid legal fees.

The spy agent (names withheld), who is in his late fifties is alleged to have sexually violated his own daughter (names withheld) between March 1 and 31 last year at their homestead in Block 10 on numerous counts.

He has since been charged with a single count of rape.

Appearing before the Regional Magistrate today, the DIS agent prayed for another date before the case could proceed to the next stage.

“My lawyer (Blessing Davedi) is not present today because I still have to settle the outstanding bills I have with him. So with that regard, I plead with this court to give us another date,” the DIS agent pleaded.

The State, on the other hand, did not oppose the plea by the accused. “I do not oppose that suggestion by the accused as I have just received this matter and I am yet to conclude my assessments on this matter,” said State prosecutor Bezi Seralanyane.

In light of these developments, Regional Magistrate Mareledi Dipate yielded to the accused’s plea and postponed the matter to another date. “The matter is postponed to February 28 for a status update,” Dipate made an order. The case continues.
