Couple investigated for obtaining by false pretences

Gantsi police are investigating two cases of obtaining false pretences in which a couple, Khalil Kablay and his wife allegedly swindled unsuspecting farmers of their cattle.

In one of the cases that occurred at Bere settlement on December 6, 2018 Kablay allegedly bought 25 cattle from a local farmer valued at over P89,000 and issued a cheque with insufficient funds. 

In a media release the Botswana Police Service (BPS) deputy public relation officer, senior superintendent Near Bagali said in another incident that occurred between December 18, 2018 and January 24, 2019 Kablay also bought 36 cattle valued at over P74,000 from 22 people in New Xade settlement and promised to pay them at a later date, which he never did.
