A 33-year-old man of Xhosa 2 ward in Mahalapye was fatally stabbed with a sharp object following a fight that started whilst playing cards for cash on Saturday.

Whilst quarrelling over a game of cards, a 24-year-old man of Tshikinyega ward, Mahalapye took out a sharp object and fatally stabbed the victim, it was reported. Mahalapye Central Police Station commander, Superintendent Meshack Ranku said the matter was reported to the police who attended the crime scene. He said upon arrival, they rushed the victim to Mahalapye hospital where he was certified dead on arrival by the doctors. "The suspect has been arrested and will this week appear before Mahalapye Magistrates' Court to face a single count of murder," Ranku said.
