Botswana, Zimbabwe to meet over cattle incursion

Officials from Zimbabwe and Botswana will meet soon over 200 cattle incursion from Zimbabwe into Botswana through cordon fence along the boarder between pickets, 8 and 5, which is regarded as a hotspot for elephants in North East District.

This was revealed by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Gaimelwe Goitsemang, in answer to a question from the Tati East MP Samson Guma Moyo, who wanted to know why those cattle were not shot while entering the country when appearing before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

“What action has your Ministry taken since this matter is urgent? Do your really understand how people living in that area would be affected? Were those cattle not supposed to be shot? Don’t tell me you are yet to call those officials,” Moyo wondered.
