The Botswana Examinations Council (BEC) has released the 2010 Botswana Government Certificate in Secondary Education (BGCSE) results, showing an overall decline of performance of two percent compared to last year.

For the future, it is clear that unless all parties work towards a common purpose, the results will continue to plunge," the Minister of Education, Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi wrote on her Facebook page before the results were uploaded on the net.

Over 29,000 students sat for the examinations, which were marred by controversy over invigilation and submission of coursework results. Government has since refused to set up a commission of enquiry on the conduct of the examinations as requested by Member of Parliament for Francistown South, Wynter Mmolotsi.
