The Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) president Mpho Balopi has rescinded former party president Ian Khama's membership termination.

In a statement released by the BDP, this afternoon in line with their ongoing peace building and reconciliation exercise spearheaded by the party president and following review into the membership terminations and suspensions of some party members, Khama and two others'; Mantsha Sekgororoane and Brigadier (Rtd) Mbakiso Mukokomani, re admitted back into the party.

The letter dated September 15, 2025 reads; " you have never submitted a resignation from the party as envisaged under article 9 of the party constitution. Again, you were never subjected to any disciplinary process." Furthermore, Balopi said Khama has never surrendered his membership card, therefore the party found it fit to envisage his membership card termination.

Meanwhile in previous interviews with Mmegi Online, Khama has said he is not going back to active politics.
