Some members of the Gaborone branch were yesterday summoned before the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) Council of Elders to answer to allegations that they colluded with the opposition parties during the 2014 general elections.

Some members of the Council of Elders who attended the meeting at Maharaja hotel yesterday included Dr Gaositwe Chiepe, David Magang, BDP executive secretary Merapelo Mazila-Moloise, among others. “The matter was referred to the Council of Elders from Tsholetsa House to assess if there was evidence against a complaint that was raised.

This came after one GS-26 youth told one of the party elders during a reconciliation that some youth members had de-campaigned him and that the sabotage started during a general meeting in 2014,” our source said.
