BDP Barata Phathi call crisis meeting

The Barata Phathi faction within the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) will hold an urgent meeting this week to discuss the 'incompetence' of the central committee (CC). Barata Phathi are not happy with the fact that the party primary elections dubbed Bulela Ditswe had to be postponed again in a space of three weeks.

The meeting was to be held last Saturday, but never took place because of the BDP northern primary elections held over the weekend.

In BDP history, primary elections are historically not characterised by postponements the way they are now.  Though the BDP electoral board is independent, some party members are putting pressure on the CC that it should be accountable for the primary elections’ messy situation.  Barata Phathi feel that the Whyte Marobela case is one issue that shows the CC’s incompetence as they failed to solve the issue internally.
