Botswana Congress Party's (BCP) primary elections continued over the weekend and in some areas the turnout was below expectation.

This, the party observed, could be due to the demand that only those registered for the 2014 general elections could vote.

BCP spokesperson Taolo Lucas stated they were particularly worried by low turnout of voters in Gaborone Bonnington South and Mogoditshane constituencies. In the latter, 676 voters took part with Gaborone Bonnington South drawing in only 319. Lucas said this challenges the party to double their membership drive so that in the next voter supplementary registration exercise early next year, BCP members register in droves.
