BCP implores Khama to suspend electoral review

The Botswana Congress Party (BCP) has written a letter to President Ian Khama requesting him not to enact the electoral amendment bill, which Parliament approved last week.

The BCP argues that there was no consultation regarding the amendment bill.

“Normally the bill is gazetted for 30 days in the government Gazette to enable anyone who wishes to make changes to do so.  We don’t understand why this bill was brought on urgency when key players on the matter were not consulted,” BCP president Dumelang Saleshando said.
