The opposition Botswana Congress Party (BCP) will give each youthful parliamentary candidate for the 2014 general elections a special campaign package.

The three, BCP Youth League (BCPYL) president and Selebi-Phikwe West candidate Dr Dithapelo Keorapetse, Okavango MP and BCPYL vice president Bagalatia Aaron and Macdonald ‘Chillyboy’ Rakgare for Mogoditshane, have been assured special focus and support in their campaigns. The backing will extend to other special groupings.

BCP publicity secretary, Taolo Lucas said not only did they encourage and create the environment for women, youth and people living with disabilities to contest, but they decided support to them in a special way to help them win the 2014 elections.  He said as part of their affirmative action plan, they will pay 25% less of the money paid towards contesting.   “It does not only apply to those who are contesting for parliamentary seats, even council candidates will be assisted.  “We cannot go into details on special party campaign package,” he said.  Page 2
