BCP against BDF reckless spending

The MP for Selebi-Phikwe West, Dithapelo Keorapetse told Parliament on Monday that they are not against Botswana Defence Force (BDF) but it’s spending.

“We are for spending informed by thorough security threats analysis and needs assessment. Most threats the country is facing are unconventional threats; there are human security threats such as poverty, unemployment, income and wealth inequalities, environmental issues and health challenges such as epidemics.

“The region enjoys relative durable peace since the fall of oppressive apartheid and the risk of inter-state total wars in the region are small to absent,” Keorapetse said.
