Battle lines drawn as BDP factions are revived

The results of the first phase of the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) primary elections last weekend have rekindled factionalism in the party.

As Bulela Ditswe in the north claimed casualties for both camps, the Barata Phati and A-Team factions are being revived, seemingly in anticipation of what the November 30 primaries in the south will produce.

Barata Phathi faction, who lost the control of the party Central Committee (CC) during the Maun elective congress, is fighting hard to win party primaries so that it has majority of Parliament and council candidates in the 2014 general elections.
