Bar fight leaves one dead

A man lost his life in a bar brawl between two others over a woman in Mahalapye.

The 28-year-old victim, whose name has not been released, died of stab wounds at the hands of another aged 23 during the altercation.

When speaking to Mmegi Online, Boitshepo Modongo, the station commander for Mahalapye Central police station, said the altercation began when two men had a misunderstanding.

"The man had attempted to protect a friend who was involved in the altercation. Unfortunately, his intervention led to a fatal outcome as he was stabbed in the stomach with a sharp object," said Modongo.

Modongo revealed that the police were only informed of the incident after the victim had succumbed to his injuries. He said the suspect was apprehended and is currently in custody while police investigations continue.
