Arson suspect arrested after allegedly torching girlfriend's house

The incident occurred on Saturday at 1:45am. It is alleged that on Friday the suspect and his 29-year-old girlfriend had a misunderstanding and that night she decided not to sleep at her home.
Machaneng Police Station commander, Superintendent George Mabuta said whilst away from home the girlfriend's neighbour established that her house was on fire and reported the matter to the police.
"Through our preliminary investigations we have since arrested the victim's boyfriend and he is currently in police custody ... even though our investigations are still at an initial stage," he said.
Mabuta further stated that nothing was retrieved as all of the victim's properties and the house were destroyed. He said the suspect is likely to appear before Mahalapye Magistrates' Court today for arraignment.
