A 36-year-old man of Palamaokuwe ward, Machaneng has been arrested and charged with arson after allegedly burning his girlfriend's two-bedroomed house to ashes in Mathuba ward, also in Machaneng.

The incident occurred on Saturday at 1:45am. It is alleged that on Friday the suspect and his 29-year-old girlfriend had a misunderstanding and that night she decided not to sleep at her home.

Machaneng Police Station commander, Superintendent George Mabuta said whilst away from home the girlfriend's neighbour established that her house was on fire and reported the matter to the police.
