80 student teachers turned away for school fees

As the hangover from the silly season continues, the management of Tlokweng College of Education sent more than 80 private students home for failure to pay their tuition upfront on Tuesday.

The students say they were barred from hostels and classrooms for failure to pay the required P2, 173.35 per term in tuition fees.

One student says management would not accept anything less than the full amount. "Not even P2000," the student told Mmegi. "They [management] say the Ministry of Education and Skills Development (MoED) has instructed them not to allow private students into class if they do not have the cash in full."
