Wame Ntaile was crowned Miss Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC), on Friday. Ntaile pocketed P3000, while first princess Koketso Moremi got P2000 and second princes Barati Pheko got P1000. In addition to the prize money, Miss UDC was given other prizes, which include a facial at a beauty parlor.
She will also spend two nights in one of the lodges in Gaborone with her partner. Contestants who did not make it to the top three, got away with P500.00 each as consolation prize.
The contestants were from 13 different constituencies.
Their first parade attire was quite interesting; the contestants confidently wore T-shirts with the “Moono” slogan printed in front, and names of their MPs at the back.
For the second attire, they wore African regalia. The contestants also did a talent set, to showcase their talents. Ntaile said her role would be to assist her party to recruit youth.
‘It is very important that we recruit new members to the party. Some youth do not take politics seriously, because they do not know anything about politics,” she said.
MP for Mogoditshane, Sedirwa Kgoroba, said the beauty contest was staged to raise funds for the party.
