After seeking prayers from a certain ‘Man of God’ in South Africa a few weeks back, Ruth Thomas’ prayers and prophecy has finally come to pass after she was crowned Miss Botswana 2025 on Saturday at the Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC).

As usual, the Miss Botswana pageantry attracted a number of patrons who witnessed the reigning queen, Thomas, fighting with all she had to turn her prophecy into a testimony. Even though quite a number recognised her from the video clip that was going viral on different social media platforms where the church posted her prophecy, it was without doubt that the new queen was not just a beauty but also an intelligent young woman. Her poise, evening gown and intelligence were a testimony that she indeed was going to win the pageantry. Hailing from Masunga, Thomas is a fellow Kalanga queen, Anicia Gaothusi, Miss Botswana 2024's successor. Gaothusi hails from Tutume. Gaothusi is currently waiting to represent the country at 72nd Miss World competition this year.

She succeeded the now Miss World Africa and also the Minister of Youth Gender, Lesego Chombo, from Shorobe. Thomas will represent Botswana at 73rd Miss World. Meanwhile, Selwana Motsemeng and Girly Kookilwe scooped first and second princesses’ titles respectively. Kookilwe won the Beauty With Purpose award while Future Gaolebale who was also chosen in the top five, scooped the Multi Media award. Magdalene Modipane also made it to top five. Furthermore, the competition kick-started on a high mode when the finalists danced. Their swimming wear parade could have not been complete without a beautiful performance from a young talented local artist, who sings his song in his native language, Chokoma. He also sang when the women made their first evening gown parade and as usual did not disappoint. On the other hand, the award winning Han C, whose talent and songs won the hearts of Batswana, also did not disappoint. Together with his two dancers, an energetic young lady and a gentleman kept the Miss Botswana patrons on their feet throughout their performance. The evidently happy audience danced and sang along making the whole scenery emotional. However, all the eight contestants fought a good fight in winning the competition.
