The beat is back, the stakes are sky-high, and the Molapo Crossing Piazza is about to turn into the country’s biggest dance floor this weekend.

This is because the annual Red Bull Dance Your Style, returning for its second Botswana edition, with the national finals, is set to ignite the Molapo Piazza this Saturday, August 16. The event is not your average dance-off; there are no judges, no safety nets, just crowd power and unpredictable beats. One dancer will emerge victorious, earning the honour of repping Botswana on the global stage in Los Angeles this October. The road to the finals has been electric, with free workshops and high-energy qualifiers shaking up Phakalane, Francistown, Old Naledi, and the University of Botswana. From Amapiano to Hip Hop, competitors have been forced to adapt on the spot, with the crowd acting as the ultimate deciding panel. Last year’s local champion, Yarona Tumelo, has shared her experiences from competition, noting that her triumph elevated her stature as a professional dancer. “Winning last year completely changed the direction of my life. It opened doors I did not even know existed, from international dance camps to brand partnerships and mentorships. More than anything, it showed me that our dance culture in Botswana is powerful and deserving of a global platform. To anyone thinking about entering, this is your chance. Do not hold back,” Tumelo shared in a statement. This Saturday, the Molapo Piazza will pulse with music, sweat, and pure freestyle magic. Red Bull Dance Your Style is more than a contest, and it is a celebration of Botswana’s street culture, talent, and fearless self-expression. Over a hundred aspiring dancers are set to rock the stage with an eye for a place in the global finals.
